理学療法士
Physical therapist
国家試験に合格し厚生労働大臣の免許を受けた人で、医師の指示で理学療法を行う専門家。障害がある人に対して、歩く、立つ、座るなどの基本動作の回復や維持、および障害の悪化の予防を目的にリハビリテーション(rehabilitation)などを提供する。
An expert who has passed the national examination and is licensed by the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, who performs physical therapy under the direction of a doctor. For people with disabilities, he or she provides rehabilitation for the purposes of recovering or maintaining basic movements such as walking, standing, sitting, and so on, as well as preventing disorders from worsening.
