精神保健指定医が、精神障害者で医療及び保護のために入院が必要と判断しているが、本人が入院に同意しない時、家族等の同意で入院させることができる。精神保健及び精神障害者福祉に関する法律に規定されている。
A designated psychiatrist (mental health doctor) can hospitalize a person with the consent of his/her family etc., even when he/she does not agree to the hospitalization, if he/she is judged to be a person with a mental illness and thus needs to be hospitalized for medical treatment and protection. This is stipulated in the Act on Mental Health and Welfare for the Mentally Disabled.
