眼底出血などにより視力障害が起こる。糖尿病性神経障害、糖尿病性腎症とともに糖尿病の合併症の一つ。日本では成人者の失明する原因第一位。
Visual impairment which occurs due to a hemorrhage in the ocular fundus (bleeding in the tissues at the back of the eye). This is one of the diabetic complications together with diabetic neuropathy and diabetic nephropathy. In Japan, this is the number one cause of adults losing their eyesight.
